Apart from that, he succinctly documents the historical trajectory of music education in Seychelles from the French and British colonial times to contemporary music practices. In Chapter one, the author reflects on his personal experiences as a music teacher in Seychelles. He points out his challenges and success during his four-year stay in Seychelles. He also explains the methodology he used in gathering his study data. In Chapter two, the author delves into reviewing the literature on the place of music in schools and eventually points out the book's relevance. Chapter three deals with geopolitical issues in Seychelles and how they impact the context of music education. Chapter four documents, in detail, the historical perspective of music education in Seychelles. Chapter five delves into music practices in Seychelles in general terms ranging from performance on traditional instruments to modern musical instruments. It highlights the first music educators in Seychelles and their contribution to music education. Chapter six interrogates the perceptions of head teachers, music teachers and students on music education in Seychelles and raises gaps and challenges that should be addressed. Consequently, chapter seven suggests strategies and measures for improving music education in Seychelles. Chapter eight is a case analysis of music education in Seychelles that points out the main contributors to the current state of music education as the education stakeholders and the government. While chapter nine explores trends in music education in Seychelles, chapter ten wraps up the book by making conclusions and recommendations.
